Almost 30 years – Keeping the Legacy Alive
Founded by Graham Keys, Lycan Grappling Academy began in Belfast in 1997, growing from humble VHS-led training sessions into Northern Ireland’s first official Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu school under Master Mauricio Gomes. With guidance from legends like Roger Gracie and the Estima brothers, Graham developed a thriving academy that produced champions and earned him the region’s first BJJ black belt. Now reimagined as Lycan Grappling Academy, the name reflects strength, transformation, and unity—drawing from Irish mythology and the spirit of the wolf. Today, Lycan continues Graham’s legacy by offering world-class training in a welcoming, empowering environment for all ages and abilities.
